About Thomas
Thomas Ephraim Banda is the Director of Finance & Administration at AMCOW. He plays a critical role in partnering with the Secretariat Leadership and Senior Management Team in Strategic Decision making and Operations Management, supporting the Secretariat in continuously developing its “think-tank” capacities in AMCOW’s thematic areas of focus and also enhancing its quality programing and building its institutional capacity. A hands-on and participative Senior Manager who leads and develops the Finance and Administration Team in Accounting and Financial Reporting, Business Planning, Budgeting and Cost Control, Human Resources, Administration, Information Technology and Procurement.
Experience
A holder of Masters in Business Administration(MBA) from University of Derby(UK), Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Malawi and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants(UK), Thomas comes to AMCOW with over 15 years of experience in Financial Management, Business Planning and Budgeting, Project and Grants Management, Systems and change Management processes, Human Resources Management and Capacity Building with different sectoral experience such as Water and Sanitation, Agricultural Research, Conservation and Wildlife Management and Public Health. Prior to joining AMCOW, he was a Consortium Finance Manager at International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) where he was coordinating and leading the financial management of a Consortium of four CGIAR Centres (IITA, CIMMYT, CIP & ICRISAT) in a US$25m USAID funded Seed Systems Project.
