The African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW), participated in the 9th World Water Forum, held in Dakar, Senegal from 22 to 27 March, 2022.
The event presented AMCOW the opportunity to organise a series of strategic events to strengthen achievement of water and sanitation agenda in Africa. AMCOW and the African Development Bank (AfDB) jointly hosted the African Pavilion – to provide a space for engagement, networking and sharing of knowledge among African water and sanitation stakeholders.
Also, AMCOW held several timely events during the Forum, comprising the AMCOW 20th Anniversary and Ministerial Round-table, a high-level panel session on finance; a high-level breakfast meeting, nine side events; five bilateral meetings; and a cocktail reception and report launch – took place in the period 21 to 25 March 2022.
A key achievement for AMCOW during the Forum was the joint organisation of the AMCOW-AfBD pavilion. The pavilion availed AMCOW’s partners and stakeholders a meeting point to engage,
share knowledge and information and showcase developments in ongoing initiatives in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector in Africa. It also offered an opportunity for convening topical seminars on renewing focus across the continent on water and sanitation as key ingredients for socioeconomic development.
Other activities organised by AMCOW during the Forum are recorded in the Ministers’ briefing note posted on AMCOW’s knowledge hub.
